PROCUREMENT PROCESS: IPESS JOSTUM OPENS NEW BIDS

As a prerequisite of the competitive bidding process, the Institute of Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards (IPESS), Joseph Sarwuan Traka University Makurdi (JOSTUM) on 8th April 2025 performed a bid opening exercise to select bidders for the procurement of goods, works and service at the Institute.
The Center Leader and Director, Professor Lami A. Nnamonu, represented by the Deputy Director, Dr Christopher Eche appreciated the bidders for the submissions and stated that, their presence at the event was a demonstration of the confidence they reposed in the Institute. Dr Eche said, the exercise was aimed at ensuring transparency, equal opportunity and accountability to bidders as well as upholding standard best practice. The Deputy Director while reiterating the Institute’s resolve to be fair in her operations especially around procurement, further urged bidders and observers to participate actively and raise questions for clarification for the success of the event.
The submitted and opened bids were in respect to, Landscaping and maintenance of IPESS building, furnishing of Environmental testing lab, G. I. S and computer Laboratory, Renovation of generator pavilion and additional office furniture and equipment. Others were, Procurement of additional equipment for environmental testing lab., sick bay furnishing and equipping, and Expression of Interest for External audit. Proposals for the optimisation of Learning Management System (LMS) and courseware digitization and development of IPESS journal portal were opened.
Reacting, Aondona Bernard, Grace Achamber and Akuhe Mary of Blistex Nig. Ltd., Angel Foundation Makurdi, and NIQS Benue Chapter, respectively in separate remarks commended the Institute for constantly upholding transparency and providing equal opportunity to bidders. They encouraged the management of the institute to keep the pace in order not to betray the confidence reposed in them.
In a vote of thanks, the Project Accountant, Mrs Jane Onah thanked the management of the Institute for the exercise and extended appreciation to bidders and observers for participating in the exercise. The project accountant again assured that; the institute will continue to exercise a high level of fairness in all her dealings especially on issues relating to procurement.
